FMA Foundation Appoints Two New Board Members

July 1, 2016 – The Fort Meade Alliance Foundation has appointed two new board members:

Linda Greene, former Executive Director of the BWI Business Partnership and Ayanna Wooten-Days, Counsel at Miles & Stockbridge.

Greene led the BWI Business Partnership since 2003 before retiring from the Executive Director position last year. She has more than 30 years of experience in the transportation and aviation industry. Wooten-Days handles general corporate and securities law at Miles & Stockbridge for a diverse range of clients, as well as advises government contractors.

“We are happy to have these two strong individuals join the FMA Foundation board,” said Deon Viergutz, president of the FMA Foundation. “This is an exciting time for our Foundation and Linda and Ayanna’s leadership are a wonderful asset.”

The FMA Foundation, incorporated in 2011, promotes, encourages and meets the charitable giving needs of the region by accepting, investing and distributing corporate and personal gifts as well as conducting its own fundraising efforts.

The Foundation recently embarked on a significant partnership with the U.S. Army and the Fort George G. Meade Garrison to establish a Resiliency Campus for the service personnel, their families and civilians at the Installation. The plan includes the renovation of the installation’s Kuhn Hall and its conversion into a Resiliency & Education Center, which will serve as the hub of information, programming, and services for the Fort Meade Community, focusing on the five areas of resiliency: physical, emotional, social, family and spiritual.

In addition to the resiliency efforts, the Foundation hosts education-oriented programs and offers scholarships for high school and college students pursuing studies and careers in the key fields of science, technology, engineering, math, language and information technology.

Other Foundation projects from the past have included outfitting the FGGM Soldier and Family Assistance Center; building playgrounds on the Fort Meade Installation; building batting cages at the Youth Sports Complex on the Installation and providing monthly snacks to the Wounded Warriors Transition Unit.

The FMA Foundation Board is currently made up of President Deon Viergutz of Lockheed Martin Corp., Treasurer Jay Baldwin of TD Bank and six at-large members: Penny Cantwell of Howard Bank, Linda Greene formerly of the BWI Business Partnership, Deb Lilley of General Dynamics Mission Systems, Elizabeth Rendon-Sherman of LG-TEK, Edward Rothstein of ERA Advisory, Steven Tiller of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, Ayanna Wooten-Days of Miles & Stockbridge and FMA General Manager Tim O’Ferrall (ex-officio).
